In the clash between man’s desire to ‘progress’ technologically into immortality, and the restrictions both of God’s decrees and of wisdom, too often what is modified is our understanding of God and not our desires. Rather than adapt to biblical wisdom and place voluntary limits on ourselves out of respect for God as Creator and as ruler of His Creation, the choice is to accept these changes, arguing that theologians can “rethink traditional conceptions of cosmos and history, humankind and God,” as our final article notes. In other words, we can do what we want and then justify it by adjusting our concept of God to fit our desires. But that is no respect or reverence for God at all. Instead is is a violation of both the First and Second Commandments:
Exodus 20:3,4 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
What this verse really is saying, in modern terms, is this: that we should not make for ourselves a god which will conform to our desires. We are to accept God as He reveals Himself to us in His Word, and not twist what we believe until we can do whatever our lustful desires lead us to, without consequences. We are to live in the reality of who He is, and not what we wish He would be in order to accommodate us and what we want. This is an important concept, so we need to be absolutely clear about what God is commanding. In modern parlance, the commandment would read:
Exodus 20:3,4 Have no gods other than Me. Do not make for yourselves a god to suit yourselves….
Yet isn’t that exactly what liberal theologians are doing when they state that we would have to rethink God? Aren’t they making a god to suit themselves, one to fit with their own desires? We’re getting into deep waters here but it’s necessary to do so because those who don’t outright claim that Christian faith is an outmoded superstition often use this more subtle approach. It may seem like they’re demonstrating the compatibility of Christianity with the transhumanist agenda, but they’re doing nothing of the kind. They’re merely substituting a false god so that they can rationalize and proceed.
It becomes apparent if you look closely at what proponents are saying, that regardless of how they characterize it, transhumanism is a religion unto itself. Human nature is self-deceptive and looks for ways to fulfill its own lusts while justifying even the most obvious of sins. That religious aspect is a problem for self-described atheists, but equally so for those who claim to be religious. They often are caught in this trap of redefining God, since it’s the only way to maintain their religion and yet justify their desires. While it may seem obvious to many that machine-driven immortality is incompatible with faith, humans are resourceful at getting their own way, and so, there are organizations dedicated to reconciling transhumanism and Christianity. A number of these are discussed in the article below, ”A Jesus Singularity? (Response to Zoltan Istvan).”
Zolton Istvan is probably the foremost proponent of transhumanism today. He has written a best-selling book, “The Transhumanist Wager” which takes the transhumanist idea to the extreme. It is a novel, and has been compared to “Atlas Shrugged” both for his literary ability and for the comprehensive, influential vision of the world which it sets forth. Istvan views transhumanism as a scientific concept and as an athiest he has disdain for any faith-based worldview. Yet he is inconsistent, for if you read much of his writing, you’ll soon find that his ideas are just as faith-based as those he criticizes. It’s merely that his faith is in transhumanism. It basically has become a religion for him.

Some of the articles below are by Istvan, some are responding to his ideas. In the response to Istvan the author talks about various, “Christian transhumanist movements” which will be coming into prominence as time passes and the debate becomes more public. There also is an excerpt from a long paper done by a University of Colorado professor who tries to reconcile Christian faith and the Singularity. He is merely a more articulate spokesman for the “Christian” transhumanist groups, but all do exactly what we mentioned at the beginning: redefine God. In other words, they want to have their cake and eat it too. Though this agenda soon may seem close to succeeding, in the end, they’ll fail. God destroyed the earth once over this same issue: tampering with the creation of man in His own image. Unfortunately, we’re headed there again.
Transhumanism: A Grimoire of Alchemical Agendas
Surprisingly, this book is touted in Ray Kurzweil’s newsletter. It’s surprising because Ray Kurzweil is the foremost proponent of the Singularity, and this book does not tell us what a wonderful future is ahead; it shows us how we’re rushing to Armageddon instead.
“This book investigates what may become of human civilization, who is setting the agenda for a trans-humanistic civilization, and why .
The modern Victor Frankenstein holds a high political office, carries diplomatic immunity, and is most likely funded by the largest corporations worldwide. His method is ancient: alchemy. His fraternities are well known and their secrets are well kept, but his goal of times past and present is the same; he dares to become as god, genetically manipulating the seeds of the earth, the beasts on the fields, and to claim legal ownership over humanity by re-creating it in his own image. This is no fairy tale, science fiction, or conspiracy theory … it simply is!
Transhumanism, a Grimoire of Alchemical Agendas by Dr.’s. Joseph P. Farrell and Scott D. de Hart lifts the veil from the macabre transhumanistic monster being assembled and exposes the hidden history and agenda that has set humanity on a collision course for the Apocalypse.”
View From the Bunker, Program # 227: Zoltan Istvan – Religion and AI
Want to know more about what transhumanists believe and where their scientific agenda is driving us? They aren’t concerned just with science any longer; they’re branching out into politics and religious areas to try and ensure that they reach their goals. Zoltan Istvan, who wrote two of the articles below and who is author of the bestselling book, “The Transhumanist Wager” also is a candidate for president on the Transhumanist Party ticket. He has been interviewed by Derek Gilbert twice, discussing these subjects.
Most recently he stated that he believed the global elite would not run off with the technology to make themselves superior, that we can trust Bill Gates because he has to be moral and honest to stay in business, and that the Google phrase, “Do no evil,” is a genuine standard for the company. He’s a classic example of the deceived we referred to in Part 2, when discussing the “Prometheus” clip. Istvan either is the most blindly naive man on the planet or exceptionally deceived, because he sounds like he actually believes what he’s saying. It’s an interesting look at what those blinded by the dream of living forever without God are placing their ‘faith’ in.
Are We Heading for a Jesus Singularity?
Both this article and the one below, on “Indoctrinating Kids with Religion,” are by Zoltan Istvan. He has become the premier philosophical apologist for the transhumanist agenda. A writer rather than a scientist, he covers more ground than most in his quest to establish his goals. Between these articles we’ve placed a response to Istvan’s Jesus Singularity concept, and though long, it’s worth reading because it will give you a good basis for understanding and discounting their agenda.
“Perhaps the first AGI will become the Second Coming of Christ, as detailed in Revelations in the bible. Could the first AGI be programmed with a Jesus-in-the-box attitude and become a Judeo-Christian-minded God, an all-powerful entity who believes it died for our sins and wants to make us its loving followers? Maybe there will be some in Congress who insist the U.S. government attempt to convert the first AGI entity to Christianity. Sound crazy? I’m willing to bet most members of Congress have done that exact thing with their children. Why should the potentially most powerful being ever created be spared the same fate?
Of course, another alternative for the planet’s future, as antagonist Reverend Belinas in my philosophical novel The Transhumanist Wager prophesied, is the first AGI will become the Antichrist, setting off a terrible chain of events for civilization that will end with Armageddon.
Either way, it appears the non religious minority of the planet will not change the attitudes of the world’s religious majority before the Singularity occurs. Logic therefore dictates that transhumanists and atheists remain more open to working with formal religion and their leaders than first thought. For many transhumanists, survival is the first and foremost part of why we are transhumanists. We want to live indefinitely using transhumanist science and technology.”
A Jesus Singularity? (Response to Zoltan Istvan)
This is a particularly good response to transhumanists like Zolton Istvan, who worry that any superintelligent machine would need to have moral guidelines built in, and that these could be drawn from the Bible. It’s written by someone with a clear Christian worldview.
It covers a number of areas such as Science and Logic, Politics and Singularity, The Agenda, and True Salvation, among others. Featuring solid arguments and biblical literacy such as the samples quoted below, it is a masterpiece. Explaining both the agenda and the flawed reasoning by which the Singularity is promoted, it makes the logic of Istvan look juvenile and exposes his deception. While Istvan is a good writer and sounds logical at a superficial level, a closer look reveals that his arguments are lacking in substance. Because of that, the quote is more lengthy than normal, but it merely scratches the surface of what you’ll find. The author, Gonzo Shimura, has a firm grasp of the subject and after reading this, you will also.
“[W]hen Mr. Istvan makes broad generalization statements like “Transhumanism — the concept of moving beyond the human being using science and technology — is based on reason and scientific evolutionary principles…” it speaks to the fact that he is working from a set of presuppositions, or assumptions to support such line of thinking. It also assumes that a belief in God or supernaturalism is irrational or without reason. This is simply not the case.

Istvan portrays his true colors in his last line of the article… He would rather live in a Jesus Singularity, than die because he wouldn’t accept it. Now let me be clear: If and when Mr. Istvan dies, and his atheism is correct, he would not have an option to accept or deny anything because he would no longer exist in any way shape or form. And this goes to show that Istvan is willing to effectively deceive those around him if it means the Singularity can move forward. Without knowing it, Istvan could very well be part of the deception that [the] Bible spoke about concerning the future; “…it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast…”
And in those days people will seek death and will not find it. They will long to die, but death will flee from them. ~Revelation 9:5-6
Is it possible that in this Singularity, as man attains longer life under the guide of science, technology, and a sentient AI, that they would effectively create their own living hell on earth? Is it possible that [the] Bible was referencing a day when these people who trusted in the Singularity to achieve immortality, will be tortured by their creation, but not allowed to die because their life was literally in the hands of this evil sentient machine?
Jesus himself said during the Olivet Discourse that in the last days, unless He intervenes, no flesh would survive at all. And if that is any indication of where this entire concept of Transhumanism, and “enhancing” humanity is going, then I don’t know what else to say. Let me clarify and suggest that I do not think progress, science and technology are evil. But I do believe that when we start talking about uploading our minds into machines and genetically altering who we are so as to “improve” various aspects of ourselves, I do imagine that this is true corruption to the flesh, one that Jesus may have been warning about, that unless He does something about it, no flesh will survive.
True immortality does not come at the hands of our own making, but rather through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. The door to true salvation has already been placed in front of us. All Mr. Istvan needs to do is walk through it. But it would mean he would have to surrender to his own pride and own faith that mankind can only save himself.”
That’s the stumbling block for Istvan, Kurzweil, and for all of the global elite who are pursuing this agenda.
Some Atheists and Transhumanists are Asking: Should it be Illegal to Indoctrinate Kids With Religion?
Unfortunately, even though atheists, nonreligious people, and transhumanists number almost a billion people, it’s too problematic and unreasonable to imagine taking “God” and “religion” out of the world entirely. But we do owe it to the children of the planet to let them grow up free from the ambush of belief systems that have a history of leading to great violence, obsessively neurotic guilt, and the oppression of virtually every social group that exists.
Like some other atheists and transhumanists, I join in calling for regulation that restricts religious indoctrination of children until they reach, let’s say, 16 years of age. Once a kid hits their mid-teens, let them have at it–if religion is something that interests them. 16-year-olds are enthusiastic, curious, and able to rationally start exploring their world, with or without the guidance of parents. But before that, they are too impressionable to repeatedly be subjected to ideas that are faith-based, unproven, and historically wrought with danger. Forcing religion onto minors is essentially a form of child abuse, which scars their ability to reason and also limits their ability to consider the world in an unbiased manner.
The Singularity: A Crucial Phase in Divine Self-Actualization?
Today (as seen in the articles above) elite scientists are proceeding, for the most part, as if they’ve already answered all of the objections. This is a 24 page pdf by a philosophy professor at the University of Colorado, for those who are becoming increasingly troubled by what’s occurring and want an in-depth look at how morality is being twisted. Be warned, while it looks at singularity and post-humans from a “Christian” view, it takes great liberties with what being Christian means in order to justify this ‘advance’ by noting that if it occurs, “future theologians would presumably rethink traditional conceptions of cosmos and history, humankind and God.”
I argue that technological post-humanists, whether wittingly or unwittingly, draw upon the long-standing Christian discourse of “theosis,” according to which humans are capable of being God or god-like. From St. Paul and Luther to Hegel and Kurzweil, the idea of human self-deification plays a prominent role. Hegel in particular emphasizes that God becomes wholly actualized only in the process by which humanity achieves absolute consciousness. Kurzweil agrees that God becomes fully actual only through historical processes that illuminate and thus transform the entire universe. The difference is that for Kurzweil and many other post-humanists, our offspring—the posthumans—will carry out this extraordinary process.
In this essay, I examine the extent to which post-humanism draws upon and extends a long-standing theme in Western philosophy and theology, according to which humans have the capacity to become virtually divine. After introducing trans- and post-humanism, I discuss briefly how technological innovation allows their proponents to believe they are helping to bring forth extraordinary beings, akin to Nietzsche’s Overman, but with powers bordering on the divine. Dramatically re-interpreting Martin Luther’s theology, G.W.F. Hegel depicted humankind as the instrument through which absolute Geist (spirit) achieves total self-consciousness. Jesus Christ was the man who became God, as much as the God who became human. Similarly, leading post- and trans-humanist, Ray Kurzweil revises the customary conception of God to accommodate the possibility that humans are taking part in a process by which post-human beings (creatures, according to traditional theism) will attain powers equivalent to those usually attributed to God.
This concludes (for now) our series focused on the Singularity, but there will be lots more information and articles discussed in future posts as this agenda proceeds. It’s something to watch closely because as we’ve shown, they are deadly serious about moving forward into “godhood” and immortality on their own terms. This is a large part of what is leading to the end, since God still is sovereign and reigns over His creation. He will not permit them to succeed in this.
Tampering with creation and with men as beings made in God’s image is what brought about the first destruction of the earth, through the flood. Prophecy tells us that the next destruction will come by fire, and we’re on the verge of it. This is a large part of the Beast system that’s about to be implemented, so be certain that you’ve placed your trust in the only One who really can provide immortality: Jesus Christ.
Revelation 14:9-11 … If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
